Non-World Tag League 2018 Results:

  • BULLET CLUB (Hangman Page & Yujiro Takahashi) def. Ayato Yoshida & Yuya Uemura
  • Suzuki-gun (Taichi & Zack Sabre Jr.) de. Ren Narita & Shota Umino
  • TenKoji (Hiroyoshi Tenzan & Satoshi Kojima) def. Tomoaki Honma & Yota Tsuji

Togi Makabe & Toa Henare Def. Yuji Nagata & Manabu Nakanishi

I have to be honest, I’m struggling to come up with anything to say about this match other then it was a completely average wrestling match. Henare and Nagata had a few decent interactions but the match is centered on Makabe. I feel it’s about time Makabe took a back seat like the other New Japan dads and stopped being a semi-pushed wrestler. **1/2

Lance Archer & Davey Boy Smith Jr. Def. Michael Elgin & Jeff Cobb

This was a good match but obviously could’ve been a lot better. The single hard cam setting might’ve hurt this one but not as much as Cobb not getting much of his really cool offense in. I get that Elgin is the signed New Japan guy but why does he get the long hot tag, Cobb was more exciting in a two move hot tag then Elgin was during the entirety of this match. A gentlemen’s three.  ***

Tomohiro Ishii & Toru Yano Def. Minoru Suzuki & Takashi Iizuka

Gee whiz, more sloppy crowd brawling to start the match, more bad Yano comedy, and more Iizuka biting people…it just SUCKS!! However much like the Ishii/Yano v ZSJ/Taichi match the other night, when the good wrestlers were in the match it was good. That being said Ishii and Suzuki weren’t in the match against each other long enough to save this. **

Tama Tonga & Tanga Loa Def. Juice Robinson & David Finlay

Hoorah, a pretty good match. The pace was good; there was no long boring heat spot, the losers looked strong in defeat. It just proves with a little effort it’s not hard to shit out a three and a half star 10-minute tag team match, sure Jado got involved but it wasn’t egregious. The tournament match of the night by a long way. ***1/2

Final Thoughts:

When I agreed to do the World Tag League, VOW writers and podcasters warned me it might be a slog and I think this sort of show is why. If you have to watch a match on this show, The G.O.D/Finjuice match is the only one worth your time.
