Goddesses of Stardom Tag League Day 4
October 28, 2018
ShinKiba 1st Ring
Shinkiba, Japan

Hina def. Rina

A familiar pairing who meet for the third time on this tour. Still at the stage where it’s basic back and forth with some submissions and rollups but nothing to write home about. Hina goes 2-1 up in their series so expect Rina to win next time they share a ring. **

Blue Goddess: Starlight Kid & Natsumi (4) def. Hanan & Leo Onozaki (0)

All back and forth with neither team able to keep momentum for any long period of time. Kid picks up the win by pinning Onozaki as Kid has gotten both falls for her team. ***

Blue Goddess: Hana Kimura & Mary Apache (6) def. Ruaka & Kaori Yoneyama (2)

This one started slow but by the end won me over as Apache looked great and Kimura wasn’t in slow motion for once. Ruaka and Yoneyama showed fantastic fire though and they really helped keep this match ticking along nicely. Apache has yet to take a fall on this entire tour and Kimura’s only loss was via ref. Stoppage so it’s safe to say they are getting a strong push and I expect them to win both the tournament and the titles. ***

Mayu Iwatani & Saki Kashima def. Tam Nakano & Shiki Shibusawa

The pre-match interviews set up the story of this one. STARS vs STARS with the senior tag team facing a newer tag team. Nakano and Shibusawa were trying to prove they could beat Mayu and Saki and while they didn’t quite get the job done they came very close and really took the former Goddesses champions to the limit. In the end, experience won out as Iwatani and Kashima put away the younger duo after a great match. ***1/2

Red Goddess: Jungle Kyona & Natsuko Tora (5) def. Konami & AZM (2)

The more established duo once again gave a tonne of shine to their younger opponents. Konami especially got to look really good as she showcased her kick power. Like the last match, the older duo put their younger opponents away thanks to a vital interception late on. ***

Oedo Tai (Martina, Kagetsu, Natsu Sumire & Hazuki) def. Queens Quest (Momo Watanabe, Bea Priestley, Chardonnay) & Utami Hayashishita

This was on it’s way to being a fine match until Momo tagged in and the intensity immediately kicked up. If I have one takeaway from this match it’s the need to see Hazuki vs Momo in a singles match. Other than that this was a main event that didn’t have many stakes outside of faction pride but it was the usual great stuff from all women involved. ***1/4
