The summer is over and August was a busy month for Super Shows including New Japan’s G1 Climax 28 final, WWE’s SummerSlam, the King of DDT tournament and AAA’s TripleMania. This month we analysed the wins and losses of over 950 wrestlers to find the definitive Top 20 Wrestlers in the world. The criteria as always is as follows:

  • Wrestlers win/loss records during the previous month
  • The position of the match on the card (a win in the main event is worth more points than a win in the opening match. A Loss in the main event minuses less points than losing in the opening match of the night.)
  • PPV and TV Show wins are worth more points than house shows
  • Title match wins and losses are also worth more points.

1. Roman Reigns (WWE)

The Big Dawg finally slayed the Dragon this month and rightfully earned the top spot in this months VoW Rankings… Defeated Baron Corbin on the 8/6 RAW… Ended the 504 Day Universal Title reign of Brock Lesnar at Summerslam in a surprisingly short main event… WWE used Braun Strowman as a distraction in an attempt to subdue some of the boo’s… Gave Finn Balor the one on one shot at the title the Demon never lost the night after and successfully defended it in an excellent match up… After the match the Shield reformed to stop Braun Strowman from cashing in his Money in the Bank contract… Reigns teamed with Strowman to face Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre but this match ended abruptly when the Monster Amongst Men attacked Reigns ahead of their match at Hell in a Cell… WWE’s obsession with pushing Reigns is beyond being a joke now. They have turned their potential top Babyface, Heel just in an attempt to get Reigns over. This is counterproductive booking which is clearly affecting the company in the interest department… Faces Strowman at Hell in a Cell

2. Daisuke Sasaki (DDT)

The protégé of Dick Togo had an excellent August in DDT… Defeated Antonio Honda to advance to the Quarter Finals of the King of DDT 2018 tournament… Teamed with Tetsuya Endo to win a four-team match on the 8/14 DDT Live… Sasaki and Endo defeated MAO and Mike Bailey on the 8/18 Road to Ryogoku Show… Defeated Keisuke Ishii in the Quarter Finals of the King of DDT Tournament on the 8/25… The next night he defeated HARASHIMA in the semi’s and DAMNATION stablemate Tetsuya Endo to win the tournament…
