Brock Lesnar’s dominance over WWE and the WWE Universal Championship came to an end at SummerSlam 2018. Now, for the first time since April 2017, the title is on someone else and Lesnar appears out of the mix.

Dethroned Universal Champion Brock Lesnar wanted a rematch with Roman Reigns at September’s Hell in a Cell, but the WWE doesn’t appear keen to give it to him, with Kurt Angle citing Lesnar’s part-time performer status while quickly shooting the idea down.

Lesnar is almost certainly headed for a UFC return in early 2019 and the odds that he wrestles at another WWE event before that are in the 4/1 range (per SportsBettingDime.com), a longshot but not out of the question.

In this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer claimed that no fight has been signed but that he is training right now with that in mind. Nothing about his next WWE step. Nothing about a return to the squared circle.

As we’ve learned throughout the years, though, Lesnar can strike when least expected.
