WWE Raw on USA Network
July 4, 2016
Let’s not belabor any idea of this show meaning anything.
I honestly wrote a long, thoughtful RAW review last week. But Grand Poobah Rich went and bought a house, while Rob was too busy staring at the Mack Weldon website (where you can use the code ‘VOW’ for 20 percent off), so my article never made the site due to the expiration date on interest in such things. My apologies for those who were expecting it.
This week’s WWE Raw offering is entirely skippable, with only one story really getting furthered: the AJ Styles vs John Cena feud gets some new players involved in the form of Enzo & Big Cass.
It’s the Fourth of July. Most Americans were out watching real fireworks, there were few to be found here. I stayed at home to watch wrestling and save my calories for a trip to Las Vegas later this week. A bad food fight skit opened up the show, and there was lots of over the top patriotism throughout.
Oh Columbus, Ohio, enjoy your extended house show. Columbus, of course, named for Christopher Columbus, director of Home Alone.
3 Things to Watch if you DVR
1) Seth Rollins vs. Dolph Ziggler (1:05). Really good match, the usual Ziggler match of late, meaning plenty of false finishes making you think he might win a match of significance.
2) John Cena and the Club (1:55). John Cena gets some allies for his fight. AJ cuts a pretty entertaining promo before the fact.
Next week, the go home for Battleground and the draft. Also, my swan song as a Raw reviewer at Voices of Wrestling. Don’t worry, no hard feelings or blow ups backstage. With Smackdown going live on Tuesdays beginning next week, we’ll have a different format on the website to cover the weekly WWE offerings.
