Match Madness –Â Sweet Sixteen Recap
Match Madness’ Sweet Sixteen Round featured total domination from New Japan Pro Wrestling talents, with 5 of the 8 winners coming from the promotion. Of course, Shinsuke Nakamura is now with WWE, so really it is 4 of 8 at this point. Even so, Tomohiro Ishii’s run throughout the Bryan Danielson Region is impressive, as the current ROH TV Champion looks to take out Zack Sabre Jr to earn a trip to the Final Four. Can Sabre Jr stop the Stone Pitbull’s run? Or will Ishii make a NJPW vs NJPW final possible?
Elite 8
The Round of 8 features four intriguing matchups as the competitors look to win their regions. Asuka, the lone woman left in the field, takes on Kevin Owens in a battle to win the Ric Flair Region. Tomohiro Ishii goes up against UK star Zack Sabre Jr for the Danielson Region prize. In the Fujinami Region, IWGP Champion Kazuchika Okada takes on IWGP Intercontinental Champion Kenny Omega. Finally, new WWE star Shinsuke Nakamura battles PWG, NJPW, and former Dragon Gate standout Ricochet.
