Pictures are coming in from this weekend’s historic wrestling event in Japan, the retirement of arguably Greatest of All Time, Kenta Kobashi. The event, FINAL BURNING, has been much hyped and although Kobashi is a shell of his former self following cancer in 2006, the shell can still go with the best of them.
Kobashi’s legend is well known to American’s as well thanks in large part to Dave Meltzer and the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Kobashi was apart of a record-number 23 (!) Meltzer five-star matches. To put that into perspective — Shawn Michaels, Ric Flair and Bret Hart have a combined 11.
Luckily, we live in an age where these matches are much more accessible, so if you haven’t done yourself a favor and watch some of these classics, well, you’re a bad person and that’s all there is to it.
Anyway, here are some of the shots from the FINAL BURNING main event. They are breathtaking and the pure emotion that come through really makes you appreciate professional wrestling that much more.
We have the full match link at the bottom of the post in addition to some Kenta Kobashi catch-up (hope you have three hours to spare!)
And finally, the FINAL BURNING main event. Enjoy!
